control arm shaft questioins?

Ok. I just got the lower control arm shafts for my 71 C10. They are Moog. They have an odd dimple drilled into one end of the shaft. I havent taken the control arms off yet so I was wondering if some one can shed some light on this. Why are they there?

On the upper arm shafts, where can I get new shims?

Are you referring to the holes that are about 5/8" dia and about 1/4" deep? If so, they locate the control arm shaft front-to-back. When you pull your old a-arms off, you'll see a stud sticking down in the curved area where the shaft sits. Therefore, those "holes" need to be facing the front when you install them on thea-arms.
