Fender lace or welting? yes/no?

It basically just forms a gasket when the strip caulk squished down from tightening the bolts. It would work simularly to welt. It helps keep water from sitting in between the panels. It also helps to cut down on any squeeking that might occure from two metal panels rubbing on each other.
