Re: What year motor?

Verifying the VIN of the vehicle that the engine came from is the easiest way.

8th vin digit U.....LQ4.
8th vin digit N.....LQ9.

Ive had wreaking yards try to pass off LQ4's as LQ9's.

I made a jumper/patch harness (PCM plugs with power, ground & data link connector) & use my Tech 2 to read the VIN thats in the PCM.

The 411 PCM will work on almost every DBC application... basically 99-02 LS1s and truck engines. It also has the ability to run DBW. Having it run a 4l80e would require a segment swap that most tuning software isn't capable of. Also it wont work with the 03-up TAC. But for a standard DBC setup they're fine. I'm running one in my '33 with an LS1 that came out of an Astro van.

Re: What year motor?

I use EFI Live to do the segment swap to go to 80e or manual trans, and I've always had good luck interchanging pcms from V6 trucks/vans to other LS vehicles.

Painter, I've recently acquired another spare 0411/DBC TB/harness. PM me if interested.

Re: What year motor?

Alright got another question.

The trans. I got came out of a truck its a 4l60e does it matter what year it is? The Escalade my motor came out of was AWD that's why I didn't get the trans. out of it.

Also, I don't see any way to access the torque converter bolts am I not seeing something?...............Forgive my lack of LS experience

Re: What year motor?

It matters to an extent, but as long as it's a '99 up you shiould be ok. Do you know what year it is? And to access the torq converter bolts you have to take the starter off and the plastic shield behind it.

Re: What year motor?

There are 298mm & 300mm versions, 4.3 & 5.7 Vortec's have 298mm 4L60E's
All LS based engines with a 4L60E use the 300mm version.

Re: What year motor?

Doh! I was thinking V8 2000 pick up when he said it was a 2000. I didn't think about a V6 truck, or the possibility it came out of a van.

So what does that mean? Is it good ,bad, or does it even matter?
