cpp drop spindle and lower ball joint
Hi
Im installing drop spindles and disc brake kit from cpp on my 1970 c10 and have noticed the new lower ball joints wont pull all the way up through the lower hole on the new spindle. Is it possible they sent me the wrong ball joints or do i need to press these on?? i probably need it to pop though another 7mm. any advice would be greatly appreciated. regards Ji |

Re: cpp drop spindle and lower ball joint
I will take some this morning but from what I've read from other posts it is possible they have sent me either the wrong spindle or wrong lower ball joint.
It will be easier and cheaper to get new ball joints sent over I just need to work out which ones i need. Posted via Mobile Device |

Here's a pic of the spindle and the packaging of the ball joints. Any thoughts? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: cpp drop spindle and lower ball joint
Balljoints say 73-87 (upper) and 71-87 (lower).
So you need a 73-87 spindle. They either sent you the wrong spindles or the balljoints are packaged wrong. I say you have the wrong spindle. Since 71-87 take the same lower balljoint,... that must be a 63-70 spindle. CPP is known for these kind of mistakes. Too bad you are so far away. Do the outer tie rods they sent you fit the spindle? What part number are they? They should be 73-87 outer tie rods, to match your ball joints.

Re: cpp drop spindle and lower ball joint
I had this same problem... You have pre 71 lower ball joints and 71-72 spindles. The ball joints I received from cpp were in the wrong package.

Re: cpp drop spindle and lower ball joint
Yep, common issue from what I am hearing.. I got the "wrong" lower ball joints from LMC also.
You can get the correct one from Autozone (Duralast part FA1014, 10264) place by my house had them in stock.
