99 silverado tear down question

I have started tearing down my wrecked 99 to put the engine and tranny in my 70, my question is... I know that i will obviously be taking all of the stuff from under the hood as far as sensors, and eliminate the unneeded sensors like the evap stuff, but my question is do i need anything else besides the brake light switch and its pigtail?

Re: 99 silverado tear down question

That's a matter of personal preferance, depending on how much you want to use off the donor truck, but mainly you just need the engine/trans and harness. Everything else usually won't fit the best, like the radiator ect. I took all the A/C stuff out of an '03 and put it in the A/C box of my old blue '72 and it worked great, but was alot of work.

Also, I would use an older brake light switch out of an '80's GM car or truck with cruise since it's a direct fit, you won't have to make any brackets or anything like you will probably have to do to use the '99 switch.

Re: 99 silverado tear down question

i did plan on removing all the AC stuff, but my 70 isnt a AC cab... and glad to know about that brake light switch, what car or truck would you recommend? idk if you remember but I was talking to you a while back about getting a cruise control switch from you, so whatever I use needs to be able to support a torque converter lockup and cruise..

Re: 99 silverado tear down question

There's alot of cars and trucks that use that brake switch, but if you're going to the parts store just ask for one for a 73-87 Chevy truck with cruise control.
