04 5.3L What is it worth

I thought I would try here first since this is where all the lsx knowledge is. I have been going back and forth with my k5 build and have decided to go with rebuilding the stock motor. I'm trying to budget wisely and since I have a rebuilt th350 and np 205 it just makes fiscal sense to use them. I have weighed and priced out the options with what I have for the 350 vs. what I will need for the lsx swap and its a pretty big difference in costs.

So here goes, I have an 04 5.3 LM7 with under 40k mi. I have the harness ecm and dbw pedal/module. Can you guys give me an idea of what it would be worth when and if I decide to sell it? I plan on someday doing the swap just not now. I won't be driving it much except for the occasional sunday drive.

Thanks,
Justin

I bought the same setup for my S10 from a Yard only with 80,000 miles on it for $850.00. With the lower miles yours should be worth more!

$1000 max for the motor, harness, ecu and dbw setup. If you had an 4l60 to go with it you would probably get 15-1600 out of it. Let me know if you are interested in selling it, I buy them all the time, refresh them and put them in old stuff. I have a 55 belair that's getting a 5.3, big cam, ls6 heads and intake...looking at about 370rwhp/tq

What is the big price difference? I would keep the 5.3 and swap it in. Mounts are cheap, modding your own harness is cheap and easy to do just time consuming. You can use your current trans and you can buy the flat flexplate and spacer for cheap. If you want to make it even easier to swap you can replace the DBW with a DBC throttle body and go that route. The most expensive, but can be done for fairly cheap, is the fuel system. That is just my take on it. Even the stock 5.3 will have way more power than a freshened up stock 350 and get close to 20mpg.

I will keep that in mind. I've been pricing things out and I may be about even either way I go. I'm leaning more towards doing the swap. I won't be happy later if i dont.

Im honestly okay with that. No point in having a restored blazer rotting away in the garage. It will make long trips much better.
