Re: barrell fan shroud

I had no idea those were worth that kind of money.

I just chopped on up. Removed the wings to make it fit another mod we were doing.

Man....I need to pay attention to values.

Re: barrell fan shroud

Hey travz500, I will take it if it will fit. My radiator is 21 3/4" wide, 3" deep. The bolt holes are 26" apart. The fan blade is 17.5" wide. Looks like I have a 62 radiator in my 63. Do you Know what the Shroud came out of?

Re: barrell fan shroud

Here's a good post that lists the different shrouds for the 60-62 trucks:

I've found one of those in a junkyard on an untouched '60 or '61... it was rotted away, so I left it, but it's the same one shown.
What I think is a later 1/2-ton shroud ('62, maybe '61) is the one on the upper right. The barrel at the radiator is wider than the mouth at the fan, so it covers more area on the radiator.
If you have an original automatic trans truck, you also got a bigger radiator, and it had the trans cooler built into it.
The automatic shroud is a full shroud that covers the whole radiator, has a notch at the bottom corner for the trans cooler lines, and attaches to tabs brazed onto the mounting flange of the radiator. Shown on bottom.
The other two don't cover the whole face of the radiator, and they mount using the six bolts that hold the radiator to the core support.
The auto-trans radiator and the 3/4-ton and up radiator are wider and a little taller, but are a direct bolt-in to a 1/2-ton '60-'62 truck. The core support, at least on my '61 Suburban, has the blind nuts in place for both radiators. They made-up the difference in the width of the core by making the mounting flanges narrower, thus keeping the mounting bolts in the same location, but put one farther down the core support.
Over a couple years, I scored all three of these shrouds... I put a 3/4-ton 4-row radiator in my '61 Suburban, and kept the full auto-trans shroud for it....clip....

ok if you look at the ones that Lostmy65 posted mine is the same as the top left one it is 26" between bolt holes and it measures 19 1/2" across so your fan should fit and the 3" radiator appears it should fit just fine I did some measuring the only thing I noticed is someone bent the flange strait where the bolts bolt it to the radiator support but I had some had seamers and it was bending back just fine and is not noticable I will bend it all back before I ship it if you want it let me know thanks

Re: barrell fan shroud

Looks like it will fit so let me know what shipping is. I don't have a brake or seamers so if you could fix it that would be cool. I'm not an ebayer so hopefully shipping isn't to much. Thanks travz500

Thanks LostMy65, I saw your post in that thread and grats on scoring a shroud for your truck. Did you end using shims? Looks like everything else was good. Thanks again for your help

Yes, I had to use 1/2 spacers.
Looking at my radiator compared to others of that generation, mine appears to be a little thicker.
I'm real happy with how it turned out.
There's pics in my LostMy65 titled thread.
