SRW to DRW

I got a C20, and I really want a dually. Every once in awhile I see a slammed obs rclb blue dually slammed on 16 polished alcoa's. Which to me is just WOW. I won't just buy a dually because I have a 74 which where I live is pre-smog, and I never seen a rc dually pre 77 when I was searching. Plus I will have fixed up my truck to my specs, and I won't want to start again.

I have seen online the drw axles are wider the srw axle, and they use the wms measurement. What does wms mean? I will use rear spacers so I can upgrade the axle I have now to suit my plans, and not have to replace it later. Also I can set the rims right where I want them for the perfect stance.

Also C20, and dually A arms are the same. It is just the spindles where everything gets different? I wouldn't mind rebuilding my front suspension first, and then convert it later.

I am looking to buy a front cross member here in a few months to start my gathering of parts, and rebuild of my front suspension. Plus I really don't want to start buying parts till I figure out which way I want to take my build. Right now I am stuck between off road tires, race suspension truck, and slammed dually for cruising.

WMS can stand for 'wheel mounting surface' & is commonly used when indicating where/how a rear end was measured.

C20 & C30 spindles are the same from what I could see when I was looking for C30 spindles. The difference is the rotors: SRW (single rear wheel) or DRW (dual rear wheel) 8-lug.

See how cheap you can find a dually parts truck for.A junkyard will nickle and dime you to death find a whole truck for 500ish and buy it.Take off all the dually parts and anything else you can use on your truck then scrap the truck out.

Its not a hard swap.....like mentioned above the control arms are the same as are the spindles and brake calipers....just need to change out the the rotor/hub assembly.....or another option is to go to a junkyard and get a front dually adaptor that comes on the 01 up duallys....they are bolt on and very easy to remove/install


Your SRW is right at 8 inches shorter that a DRW....you will need to swap out the whole rear end unless you wanna run semi wheels....my dually has a SRW axle in it with 4 semis out back and its perfect for gettin the tires tucked under the fenders....after that bolt on your rear fenders and your swap is done

I see them once in awhile, but unfortunately there the newer models. While the suspension swaps over, the few body pieces I need don't. Plus I really don't have room at my place for another truck right now, and a space to safely work on it. So I am not sure the hassle is worth it unless I find the years I can use on my truck.

If my project truck was on the road, and my soon to be ex-wifes VW van was gone it would be a whole other story.

Other then that it would be a great deal I feel picking, and choosing the exact parts I want maybe cheaper in the end.
