Replacement key fob, 2012 Yukon XL
I just purchased a used 2012 Yukon XL and it only came with one, 6 button fob.
Do I need to go to a dealer to get another fob? I see they are sold on eBay, but when I did a google search on programming them I found mixed answers. Some said it was possible to set them up at home and one forum was talking that 2011 and newer need a scan tool. Can anyone confirm this? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Replacement key fob, 2012 Yukon XL
Anybody? I live 600 kms away from the nearest dealer and would like to know if I can get FOBs without a trip to the dealer?

I'm almost positive you need to take it to the dealer to have it programmed to your truck.

I lost one for my 2010 Sierra, bought a $6 on ebay and brought it to the dealer and told them it didn't work. they reprogrammed it for free under warranty.

Yes, dealer only unless you have a Tech2.

Re: Replacement key fob, 2012 Yukon XL
So I bought a new FOB last week. Full retail was $280, plus $60 to program from the GM Dealer.
I was able to get the part a bit cheaper through the parts department. Yes, the dealer need to program the new FOB.
