factory spare tire carrier ?????
I bought the original inside spare tire carrier off e-bay a few days ago and now have a question. I am trying to avoid pulling all the carpet back and assumed that the rear seat anchor bolts would be the same as the anchore holes for the carrier. It appears that I am wrong. If some one is in restoration mode would you mind trying to figure out what size bolt and thread I need to anchore this with. I am fearing the worst that the threads are shot. I am also afraid to remove the rear carpet hold down since, with my luck, I know the small screws will twist off. This information would be greatly appreciated and would help me decide my next coarse of action. I figured this project would take an hour and that included waiting on the paint to dry. HA! Thanks.

I have a '71 K5 and my factory interior spare tire carrier uses four 7/16" coarse thread bolts.
