86 air dam options??
ive been searching for quit some time for an after market front air damfor my 86 c10 silverado but have come up with nothing but the factory black plastic one. so i was curious if anyone knows of a place that sells them or how much differetn an 88+style front bumper is compared to an 86 style bumper and make one work from tht style of truck without to much extensive modification or not.
any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated |

Re: 86 air dam options??
What is it that you are looking for, if not the black plastic??
I'm getting ready to get one as well..Thinking about going with the shorter one that LMC has(4.5") since I have dropped my truck in front. |

Re: 86 air dam options??
Well I was hoping to go with something custom. Like they did back in the 80's I've seen lots of pics of fibreglass ( or what I beleive to be) ones that go across the bottom and blend into the bottom of the fenders but I've never found anything as to where to buy them. So I was thinking of taking the next style up in truck and using one of those polyurethane lower valance and custom fit it to my truck to give it something different up front.

Re: 86 air dam options??
Not to hi-jack your thread but does anyone know if you can install an air dam from say an 86 model onto a 77 model?

You are talking about http://www.stylintrucks.com/parts/ge...aspx#something like this right? I was thinking about putting one on my truck too but with the lowering kit it may not be a good idea for me.
This company does not make them for our trucks though.

Re: 86 air dam options??
If you haven't already search for body kits if anyone still makes them for these trucks. See if you can find one that way. I have only seen a few of these trucks with them on there and that has been years ago. I do like them though.

Re: 86 air dam options??
First, the later models have a different shaped bumper than your 86. The screws mount different on the later ones, than they do on yours. There are three different front air dams made for your truck, one with tow hook holes and two without. There is one for a 4X4, which is wider than the one for a 2WD model. Check out LMC, they sell all three.
The front bumper on a 77 is designed different than the 86, and I don't know if the bottom has the bolt holes for the spring nuts to mount on for the later air dam. The frame is the sam, so if you wanted to upgrade toa later bumper, you could do so.

Try the Fiberglass Store. He used to be in Edmonton but has now semi-retired and does it out of his achrage. I plan on getting one for my '87. I have one of his for my '69 but had to modify it to work
