How about some pics of '73-'87 Stepside Beds

how is there not a thread already for these trucks? a place to show off and show apreciation for craftsmanship with metal AND wood

I'll start off with mine 1981 C10 father/son project that will never be done.
Oak wood, did myself definetly gets attention and a couple questions. Put Cadillac taillights in the rear fenders. 2 inch front drop 2 inch rear lift. 350 with 4 speed saginaw, shaved firewall, flamed inner fenders, bucket seats, custom stereo. dont have nice photos of it as i'm at work right now will post some more soon

Why do you say it will never be done?

In Kansas we have a 50 hour of parental instruction starting at 14. My son is 14 and has this permit. i have yet to let him drive my big block. when he does, i know will be in trouble.

The last search he made on Google was "fast cheap cars". looks like a chip off the old block!

My son got his Texas learners permit a few weeks ago. He'll be 16 in August. I share your fear... Tell you what, you keep your son off the road, and I'll keep mine off the road. We will all be safer as a result!

Serious question... how does the water drain out of those beds? there are plenty of gaps in mine, but ya'lls look to be water tight?!?

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Stepside Beds

Real curious on how you did the flames on the wood. Is it an inlay laminant or just frog tape to hold the line while staining? Seems to me the stain would blead so bad you couldn't make a fine line.

I'm not that into flames but it does look real nice.

thanks for the compliments! i just laid the wood in the bed, drew out the layout with pencil, adjusted for the hold down strips and hand carved them out and then sanded the groove with 80/240 grit sand paper and then stained one side and then the other. then just varnished both at the same time. it was my first time EVER messing with wood and i was very very happy with the results.
As far as drainage.. it never ever sees rain. and when i wash it i do it on an incline so it runs off towards the back.
