Alcoa Wheels
Its my goal in life to one day get a 73-75 crew cab dually. I'm going to look at some aluminum dually wheels. How can I tell if they are alcoa or imitations? Any other advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Ray |

Re: Alcoa Wheels
I believe that Alcoa no longer makes the wheels for our trucks
The production date ,size and part # along with alcoa name should be stamped on the inner surface There are still some new sets out there;I found a NOS set on Craigslist idaho last year |

Re: Alcoa Wheels
I really like the look of the alcoas on dually trucks. Are they the most popular wheel for 73-87 duallies?

Re: Alcoa Wheels
The Alcoas are forged ...some of the others are cast....and Alcoa is the standard for big trucks
So most guys will refer to aluminum dually wheeels as "Alcoas" There should be lots out there still and there are lots of shops that service the highway tractor industry that can polish and check them Just make sure they have the correct center dia for 73-87 GM The Ford and Dodge wheels are similar but different center |

Re: Alcoa Wheels
These are from an 89 1 ton Chevy and I'm looking at them tomorrow am. I hope they work out!

Re: Alcoa Wheels
Well, How's 3 out of 6? They are alcoa wheels, but there are only 4 of them and one of the 4 is junk. The other 2 wheels are steel wheels mounted on the inside of the duallies. They came with an 89 GMC that is beat.

Re: Alcoa Wheels
They do make a classic set of 16" wheels for our trucks. But it is a bear to find the part number. Let me see if this link will workhttp://www.alcoa.com/alcoawheels/nor...ochure_PDF.pdf

Quote:
I assume the 89 is a crew cab...square body with non metric studs If the price is reasonable I would grab them....you can always find 1 loose wheel or the wheel repair shop may be able to fix the 4th one |

Re: Alcoa Wheels
I went after this deal blind. 89 1 ton with aluminum wheels $400 way up in the mountains. No picture and the owner had no clue. It ended up being an extra cab 88-98 body style. It runs and drives with 454/th400, but won't pass smog, ripe CA registration, and its beat.
