I called about an 84 short bed 4x4 this evening and this fellow said it was a silverado without PW and PL. What would be involved in order to put doors with PW and PL's on and have it done correctly. Is there a place in the wiring harness to be able to disconnect and take the necessary wiring with the power doors and be able to plug into the 84 harness somewhere that doesn't have the power doors.

The pw/pdl harness is separate....best way is to remove the donor harness and take pictures as you go

You should also try and have the complete donor doors when you are doing this

Allow about 8 hours...you have to pull your doors to hole saw and feed the wires and use the factory boots

And lubricate and adjust all the tracks while you have the doors apart

This truck comes with doors from a 91 suburban. Correct me if I am mistaken but I can take the power window/lock harness from a power truck and it will plug right into the harness of the truck that didn't come with power windows and locks? Plug n play sort of? 8hrs? I take it you have done this? Do you have photos, what was the whole process if you did.

I have done this to a CUCV truck. To make it look like GM did it you will need to remove the doors and front fenders (one side at a time is best) so holes can be drilled for the wires and the rubber conduit installed. The lower dash corners will also need to be unbolted and pulled out of the way to drill the inside of the cab. The good news is the places needing to be drilled are pre-marked or dimpled.

As for the wires being plug and play yes and no.

You will need a 1982-1984 power lock/window harness. The 1985-1991 harness have different wire terminals/connectors on the cab side (under dash). Also, the post 1984 truck have a different fuse panel.

Can you post a photo of your 1984 fuse panel?

This is a truck that I am thinking pretty serious about buying and just trying to see what is involved to switch it over to pw and pl's. I don't have any pics of it at this time.

I have a 1984 parts harness with power lock/windows that I'll look at and maybe get a photo of.

Yeah I think it does but it is a manual window truck. I wasn't even thinking of my k30 when you asked that earlier. I won't be able to get a pic until morning.

I did it too my crew cab, and Red is right. Match your harness to the year of truck. Your gonna need new power door regulators. You will need to drill holes in the door and cab for the harness to pass through. There is a harness that goes across the top of the dash to the other side. I would remove the dash and gauge cluster to make that easier. More than likely the harness will have the power lock harness attatched those are easy to hook up if you so choose to do so. the whole thing is not very hard just time consuming.

I was able to drill the holes without removing the fenders by using a hole saw with an extension and drilling a little at an angle. If your holes are not perfect it will be covered up by the ruber conduit anyway. I didn't even realize my cab didn't have the holes until I started to run the wiring.

I have done it too, pretty simple. Try to get a complete harness, I just added a second fuse block to be able to hook up my power seats too.
