Re: dash bulbs?

I bought a box of 10 168 bulbs ( I was told they are a little brighter). Seems like I only had one or two left.

Re: dash bulbs?

The 91' cluster may have the slightly smaller diameter light socket so pay attention. If you can get one of them off to take with you to the autopart store, that would be good.

I found this out when I did an 89 to 91 cluster swap. The 89 and older ones were slightly bigger in diameter (the twist sockets themselves). The bulbs may be the same the same though. Just fyi.

If you want to make them even brighter, remove the whole cluster and spray paint the inside chrome. It will reflect better.....

Re: dash bulbs?

On my 72 I just replaced the 194's with 17177's and they are noticably brighter. Didnt paint or anything. Just bulbs.

I'm fixing to do this on my sons 87 as well.

Also if you have a RV store close by you can get the 168 or 194 bulbs cheaper.I give $4.00 for a box of 10 all the time. the store where I get mine doesnt have the 17177's though. Parts house only. Hope this helps.
