Jeep Coils

I had a buddy give me a set of stock rear coil springs from a 2008 Wrangler. Does anyone know if these will swap in place of my factory rear springs to lower it? (I have a 1960 C/10) I've read threads on here that the earlier model jeep springs would work but I got these for (practically) free and wondered if anyone else had used them? Thanks guys.

I used TJ springs and it lowered my 64 4" I'm going to redo the suspesion next winter and I will replace them with Lowered springs. I'm not happy that I can't haul my Fat buddies at shows in the back of my truck Seriously 3-400 lbs is the limit with my springs.

Yeah, I was aware of the load limitations, I was just trying to determine if these later model ones would work before I started tearing things apart.

I had to replace all 4 bolts that held my spring cups,the originals were a rusted mess. It only took me about 1 hour to change them out.
I used a air impact where I could and a breaker bar helped some too.
I raised my truck up and put jackstands under frame,them I put a floor jackunder the rearend and loosened the bottem springs. Then I lowered the floor jack and took out top bolts.
Assembly was reversed it actually went pretty fast.

Thanks for the direction. I'll not have a chance to do this until next weekend so hopefully sometime between now and then someone can chime in about whether these newer model springs will work like the older ones did.

I snagged this from another member a while ago:

TJ=97-06 Wrangler
XJ=84-01 Cherokee
ZJ=93-98 Grand Cherokee

I personally used the 06 TJ's and they give a good ride height with decent load capacity. Just hold onto your originals, so if you ever need to do a heavy haul you'll have proper springs to do it.

You say you have 08's, so I don't know of anyone that's used those, but if you want to post a picture of the springs it will be easier to tell if they'll fit. The swap is so simple, you can always just go out and test them out to see-- it only takes about 30 minutes to swap out, maybe 45 if its your first time doing it.
If the 08's don't fit don't be too bummed about it, its super easy to get a proper set for free with all the guys doing lifted jeeps these days.

I just did that last night. Took me and 2 buddies 2 hours!! The lower bolts were rusted to the trailing arms solid, broke 3 out of 4 total ( both uppers, and 1 lower bolt. Put in 3" CPP drop springs and checked the difference at the rear bumper ....it went down exactly 3 inches. 1 spring took a lot of heat andthe lower sping cup was chisled out slowly....PIA!

JK(07+ Wranglers) coils are a bit different than TJ (97-06 Wrangler) coils, so I'd try it but who knows it may work.

Jeep guys are saying that in order for the JK coils to work on a TJ it requires lots of mods. May not be a straight up bolt in...

From the looks of it and the little bit of reading the JK coil's spring holder deal that sits in the bucket is different than the TJ coils' spring holder thing Technical terms I know but look at the pic and you can see what I mean

Beetle, thanks for all the info. This is exactly what I was looking for. The springs he gave me look like the first (top) spring in your pic. Which is weird because this guy's a big-time jeep guy and he told me he was giving me factory rear coils... Based on your input, I need the last (bottom) springs pictured, which do look right to me. Maybe he was having a brain fart...
