Re: painting leaf springs
I would think your best best would be to powder coat them.

Re: painting leaf springs
I would think powder coating would crack too on a leaf spring or any kind of spring.
I have always had good luck with black engine enamel and do have to touch them up on occasion. I have never taken mine apart before but its not a bad idea to get complete coverage of each leaf. I guess it depends on the intended purpose. Is it a show vehicle or just a nice driver? |

It will hopefully be somewhere in between... I just hate the look of rust under the truck, and springs end up looking very rusty...

Re: painting leaf springs
My buddy owns a powder coating business he powder coats coil springs all the time with no problems. But I wouldn't think it would last long.

Re: painting leaf springs
Powder coating lasts pretty well. I've done a bunch of them for folks. Powder coated springs along with new plastic liner (Speedway Motors) will make them look nice and ride smoothly.

Re: painting leaf springs

http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Flat-S...ners,7471.html Are you using it for the entire lingth of spring or just above the perch?

Re: painting leaf springs
Mine are powdercoated, seem to work just fine since it is parked in the garage everyday. hahaha
![]() Pictures are kind of blury but you get the idea, all broken apart and reassembled with teflone between each leaf. They are black gloss with a clear coat on top

Re: painting leaf springs
Yup that is the stuff, I just drilled a hole and slid the centering pin thru them as I assembled the leaf springs

Re: painting leaf springs
Did you use the teflon for the entire length of the spring, or just above the perch for about 8" or so?

Re: painting leaf springs
I just did mine. I used Masterseries coatings and I think they turned out great. I think that the Masterseries will hold up better than powder but I guess time will tell (also a lot cheaper than powder coating). Heres a picture of mine.

Re: painting leaf springs
I'm planning on por 15 for mine, though I am curious about the length of liner to use, and if you should use it between each leaf
