sheet metal

Ok I know some of you all have used sheet metal from different companies. Is goodmark one of the better companies? Is the metal gage thick enough? I need many, actually most of the sheet metal for a 63 c10 short bed.
Thanks
Ernest

Re: sheet metal

I have used doors from Goodmark for a 1972 pick up and they fit like socks on a chicken.

I have had really good luck with Mar-K for bed panels.

I am curious about fenders myself for my 64.

Be prepared to "fit" what ever you buy and where ever you buy it from. Most of the aftermarket sheet metal does need a little work to fit correctly.

I am guessing that socks on a chicken is not a good thing, right?

Re: sheet metal

I have not bought any complete fenders, but I bought repair panels thru Top Banana and was pleased with the fit and thickness of the metal.

Ditto. The only patch panel that I've encountered thus far from them that didn't match the original was the rear cab support. I had to narrow one end of it and rework the angle of the outer flanges to match/fit correctly. Otherwise, I've been pleased with the fit and thickness of their patch panels so far on my build.

Re: sheet metal

Have bought panels from both Classic Parts and LMC. The Classic Parts panels are 18 gauge and did not fit well. One outside floor replacement panel was 1 inch short on the front side. I would agree that any aftermarket parts are a start only. Plan on trimming and bending. My next purchase will be from Top Banana based on comments on this forum. I am also going to buy my bed from Mar-K.
