Powerglide ID
Trying to figure out what I have. It's a cast iron bolted to a plate that is attached to my 235. It has a really ong fill tube !!!!
It has a modulator, so I'm thinking 58-62 and shift pattern is PRNDL. Casting # on bottom is 3742343 GM 1 D258. Any help would be appreciated. I noticed that the top of the bellhousing had a middle bolt hole, but it was not used? Is this V-8 glide or is there a difference? Thanks |

Re: Powerglide ID
The glides behind 235's and V8's had completely different bellhousings but I don't know if the internals were the same or the case behind the front pump. I scrapped the last one I had in 1975 when it gave out in my T bucket.
I think you can figure that is between a 58 and a 62 Powerglide for a 235 that isn't going to fit anything else. Some good info here: http://www.autotran.us/identifying_1...7_corvett.html Do a quick google search for cast iron powerglide ID and there is more info.
