Consolidated parts shipping to UK - anyone willing to help ?
Mods - hope this is ok to post this
I've bought various bits and pieces off this forum and eBay USA and, whilst most small parts are reasonably economical to ship, the bigger bits just aren't viable. Despite the best efforts of some of the great guys on this forum, quotes for pieces I need, such as custom sail panels, script rocker covers, etc, etc are coming out too high individually. However, if someone over there would be willing to have my items shipped to them and then I pay to have it shipped in one box, then that could work out much cheaper for me - even when you add in a few more $$ for your time and effort. I'm in no hurry to get these bits so if someone is willing to have them sat on a shelf until I've collected all the bits and the day comes to ship, then even better. Thanks for reading - anyone willing to help ?

I would be willing to help you out. But since I am fairly close to the West coast, that will not be as cost effective as if someone on the East coast would be willing.

I checked into shipping for the couple of parts you wanted from me and it was about $60 to ship. Let me know if you work out a deal with the captain and I can hand deliver the parts to him and you wouldn't have to pay to ship them to him.

I can help me to, I always ship stuff to Germany for a buddy of mine, boxing it up all at once is definitely the way to go.

I'd also be interested in the same sort of service for a friendly person stateside, it sucks when something is $60 to buy and then $65 to ship!

I spent 10 years on the other side of the world (Okinawa), so I know how it is trying to get things overseas. I'm more than willing to help out. Just let me know.

What an overwhelming response – my thanks to everyone
Captainfab – I’ll be sending you a pm as I hope to have a few parts from BLK65K10 so it makes a lot of sense for me to accept your kind offer of help BLK65K10 – looks like we’ll be doing a little business! LT1 – good man for helping your buddy out and thanks for the tip. Who do you ship with out of interest? monterx7 – I used to dive past Lakenheath every day as I worked near Brandon, so not far at all. I’ll drop you a pm about your idea – appreciate the tip jamesrussell26, jimmyjammoto and joeydirt – thanks again for your offers of help but it looks like I’m spoilt for offers already! Also, it goes without saying that I’m more than happy to help anyone that may need any British parts, either for you or any car guys you know! PMs to follow when work time allows Cheers Barney

USPS over seas is the cheapest but you have to pack efficiently. A small package maybe 40 to ship but one weighing 3X that might be 60.

Re: Consolidated parts shipping to UK - anyone willing to help ?
This might not be relevant for the parts you've bought, but it might be an interesting option for future (bigger) purchases:
I had six wheels and a biggish box of other parts delivered by DB Schenker door-to-airport service. The parts arrived within in a week and it cost about a third of the price the "traditional" companies wanted. Obviously you have to pick them up from the airport and take care of the customs clearance yourself, but for me it was soooo worth it. |

We were there in 87-89. Dad was with 1st group Special Forces. Got sent to Ft. Bragg from there until he retired.
