front wheel back spacing
i have a 49 ad with a g body front clip with s10 dropped spindles. i have some 15 + 5 in wheels with 3 in backspacing. i may be worrying to much about turning and the tire ( 215 /70) hitting the fender lip. i called one of the wheel builders and he said if i went with a 6 in wheel with 4 1/4 backspacing that the tire would be much more inside the fender. i dont see it . all i see is a 1/4 in gain. what do you guys think. sure i could go to a shorter tire but i like the look of the 215

Re: front wheel back spacing
Probably because your worry is rather silly in that most guys have to put 1-1/2 or 2 inch spacers on the hubs to move the wheel/tire combo out far enough so that they look right in the wheel well. Unless you are running 10 or 12 inch wide rims or have 22's or bigger wheels I don't see any problem.
In simple terms, the issue with S-10 swaps is getting the tire out close enough to the fender lip not moving it in away from the fender lip. That is why you see a lot of photos of rather goofy looking front wheel/tire setups on AD trucks in event coverage. Those with the tires and wheels looking lost in the openings.
