Rear pop out glass?????

So I've seen a few at some shows wondering if anyone has seen them before, know of the company that made them or any information on them if you've never seen it its basically a rear window that pops out on the sides and flexes for the center.

Re: Rear pop out glass?????

That company did the pop out flex glass for a short time, but have not seen that in years. The glass was made of lexan and looked as if it would work well.

For the 68 project truck that I am working on, I took the idea that GM used on the Astro van side windows and cut a dark tinted glass for the back window, had holes drilled in it for the hardware and then had the glass hardened so it would not flex and break. My plans are to make the bottom of the rear glass pop out and open like the Astro vans. I like the fresh air coming in the back of my daily driver with the sliding window, but wanted something a little different for the 68 truck.

Re: Rear pop out glass?????

If you don't want holes in the glass some dodge and ford minvans had pop out back windows,The latch was glued on the window in the inside and they had power options too.

Re: Rear pop out glass?????

I'm thinking this may not be hard to make if you REALLY had to have one and couldn't find one. Make a metal frame that fits into the gasket just like the glass did, and then you can do whatever you want from there as far as how the glass/lexan seals, hinges, or latches to the metal.

Come to think of it, you may even be able to take an old slider window, gut it, then possibly use the frame as a starting point.
