Help me decide wheel color
I just finished re-painting my hubcaps and now I am on the fence whether I want to go with white wheels or stay with black. Unfortunately, I only have pics of black wheels, but you can use the pic at the bottom to help you imagine white wheels. What do you guys think?
p.s. I know there is supposed to be a blue ring on the hubcap but I cannot figure out how to tape it off so it is not all un-even. Any ideas are welcome! Here is a factory suburban with black wheels and white walls: And here is the only factory pic I can find of a truck with white wheels and white wall tires:

Re: Help me decide wheel color
I'd do white over black, but what about body color?

Re: Help me decide wheel color
Great trompe deuil, makes it look like a low profile tire with all the white rim and wide whitewall.
Be proud of your GMC heritage, paint it white like the photograph.

Re: Help me decide wheel color
I like the black as well, but the turquoise would look good as well..

Re: Help me decide wheel color
I would go with black.
White is too... soft? With white walls and the factory colors it needs the black wheels to make it rugged, like a truck is supposed to be. A silver/argent color would also be a nice in between. I think white would look good with a chrome cap however. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Help me decide wheel color
If the rest of the build is going for the pure stock look, I'd go with the white wheels even through they aren't my favorite. For painting hubcap stripes I've had good luck masking the edges with 1/8" masking tape, then I cover the rest of the cap with regular 3/4" masking tape. I use an old small kitchen turntable for masking circular items. This allows the orientation of my hands to remain stationary, making it much easier to maintain a concentric edge.

Re: Help me decide wheel color
I think white would be too much. Black looks nice. Body color would also be good. I've also been a big fan of gun metal gray for wheels as well.

Re: Help me decide wheel color
Thanks everyone! I'm starting to agree that white may be too much. I am going for a stock look but not absolute stock. Details like color shades are not that important to me. I would like to paint the wheels cape blue like the body, I'll have to price out a quart though and see how much it would be. I'm trying to just get her back on the road right now.

Re: Help me decide wheel color
i would stay with a black wheel.if you paint the wheel white the hubcap will blend in and with a beautiful hubcap you really want the wheel to accent the cap and not bury it.
