My Project

Hey Guys,

I just wanted to say thanks for all the great information on this Forum. I am almost complete with my LQ4-4L60E swap into my 67 Stepside. Any questions that I had I was able to find answers for just by looking here. I have some test and tuning to do once it stops snowing.

About the truck. LQ4 out of a 2001 Yukon Denali with a 4L60E from Stu at Just Chevy Trucks. They are great and I would recommend them. I added Tubular A-arms to the front and a Hydra-tec Hydroboost this winter too. I restored the truck back in 2003 and have been driving it but just felt it was time to change things up. I'll post some pics of the before and after.

Thanks.

Re: My Project

Can you tell me more about your hydroboost setup? I'm completing mine this spring, but most seem to use stock parts; is there something unique about the aftermarket setup?

I tried the hydro-boost from Brothers but it didn't clear the engine cover and the set up they sell mounted at a weird angle. Then I was going to do the junk yard search for a HB out of an Astro van. But I wasn't real happy with the condition of what I found. Then I checked with Hydro-tec and found a one stop shop. Hydro boost, mounting plate, hoses, master cylinder. It was a little more than I wanted to spend but I saved some time in researching the hoses and fitting I would need. And the master cylinder has the prop valve built into it so that is a lot cleaner.

Re: My Project

Oh very cool, I didn't realize they offered everything at once.
I was looking at more of the junkyard setup; I've already got the pump on my lq4, and a prop valve. I was planning on just finding the astro van unit and getting a mounting plate from one of our supporting vendors (CaptainFab).

Thanks for the info, the truck looks clean!

Re: My Project

Here's a video of it running. For some reason the camera picks up the fan noise. They aren't that loud.
