Re: Church
Very nice, thanks for sharing the pictures. One very clean truck. Even has the original offset mirror heads. Those are hard to find.

Re: Church
I have not talked to the owner, so I don't know where it has been for all these years. I looked it over, It does not even have the factory installed RUST in all the right places. When I can, I will ask the owner.

Re: Church
The original mirror heads from the factory had an offset stud. All the repops have a center mount stud. Here are a few pics...All of the OEM ones I have are stamped where im pointing w/the pen. They also came of the corvair greenbriar trucks. They are getting harder to find. I have seen single mirror heads go for $45-$125 each lately when they pop up. Have found them in silver or black from the factory...but may be other colors I haven't seen. The chrome one is a repop to show the center mount stud.

Re: Church
Great info! That would certainly add to the functionality of the passenger side. *Adds to wish list*

Re: Church
1963C-10
Thanks for the education on the mirrors. I'd never noticed. That is attention to detail. I will have to check my C10 to see what Ive got. My family told me they are not going to Church with me any longer. Couldn't have anything to do with me running to that truck and dropping to my knees to kiss the headlights and lick the bumper!!!!! |

Re: Church
Haha...I here you there. Im quick to pull out a camera and take pics. Ive held more than one family function up over pulling over to look at a truck or stopping while out shopping. And no problem on the mirrors. Im surprised to not see more of them. I suppose after 50 years being glass and hanging out there that alot of them were broken. I have a set for my truck when I do the color change. Im also going to use the earlier 60-61 style cast iron arms. I have 1 extra mirror squirreled away in case I ever brake one of the ones on the truck. I find myself starting to box up extra parts to keep due to alot of things getting scarse or overpriced.

Re: Church
Darn-it, I checked the round mirrors on my '64. They are not off-set. Attach to the center. Guess I'm going to have to search for the off-set type. THANK YOU 1963C10.
Randy, where did you get that last name? |

Re: Church
First, that’s a very nice looking truck.
Second, apparently GMC also offered the offset mirror head in white, as shown by these Ebay photos from some time in the past:

Re: Church
Wow, that gives a whole other meaning to "Church Truck" This is the Church Truck I'm used to. Unfortunately it means a one way trip.

Re: Church
You guys remember this photo. Well I finally got to talk to the owner. His father-in-law purchased the truck back in the day. Used it on the place. Has 90,000 actual miles always been sheded. Now for the rest of the story.
His father-in-law GAVE the truck to him. I told him if he wanted to sell, I would double his money!!! Shorty |
