Mcgaughy Drop springs............

I originally put 2.5" drop spindles and 2" springs on my truck (all mcgaughy parts) and it came out too low in the front so I ordered 1" springs thinking I could bring the front up an inch and align it to take up a little more so my truck would sit level but to my surprise after pulling the 2" ones out, the 1" springs only end up being 1/2" taller. Kind of disappointing!!!! Yes the 2" ones are actually 2 1/4" shorter than my factory springs. I really didn't want to cut my springs and wanted my front end to be new. It's just frustrating to spend all that money and it not be what you wanted.

Re: Mcgaughy Drop springs............

I would go ahead and install them and see how they come out. I bet your ride height will come out where you want. The spring doesn't have to be 1" higher to equal 1" of ride height.

Re: Mcgaughy Drop springs............

I know it depends on spring rate, it just seems odd to me. At this point that's all I can do

Re: Mcgaughy Drop springs............

I had the same problem with these springs, I installed the 4.5/6 mcgaughys drop and my front end sits way too low

Re: Mcgaughy Drop springs............

Cut the stockers 1 coil on the bottom and with the spindles you will get 4.5" and the ride will be perfect. I PROMISE! Cut them with a cut-off wheel on the grinder, takes like 2 seconds and is free.

Re: Mcgaughy Drop springs............

Most low cost aftermarket coil springs are a crapshoot.

Re: Mcgaughy Drop springs............

did you try the stock springs after you installed the drop spindles? I wonder if that will be low enough for you, it's free to try it out.
i'm going to do the 2.5 Mcgaughy's drop spindles but using the stock springs. i am not going cut them, or heat them or anything, gonna run them as they came.

Re: Mcgaughy Drop springs............

2.5 McG spindles, and one cut coil for height reference. Front fenders went from 33" to 28.5" with 255/70/15 tires. I'm actually going to cut another 1/2 coil. Plenty of room and the ride is great.

Re: Mcgaughy Drop springs............

how much total inches will that be, that you have cut off the coils?

what inches is your rear lower? flip kit or hangers/shackles?
