Headliner delete?
Found this little beauty target shooting with my son at a friends relative's place. My question to you suburban guys is when I looked inside I noticed it had no headliner and only had a medium green colored cardboard piece above the front seating; is the reason for this because it is a Custom?

Re: Headliner delete?
I wonder if Base Burbs were manufactured that way? Others

Re: Headliner delete?
It's a factory item in addition to the headliner board - it was there on my '67 when I pulled the stock headliner board. My guess is that it provides some basic level of sound-deadening above the front seating. Interesting they chose not to line the entire ceiling this way.

Re: Headliner delete?
Hmm...interesting. Well I guess somebody decided it was a parts 'burb and ran off with it then. I'm trying to talk the current owner into selling it to me. I guess if he does I get to go headliner hunting

Re: Headliner delete?
May be more like headliner crafting - replacement headliner boards are somewhere between zero and non-existent. However, there are a number of threads on this board that describe some successful approaches to making your own. Good luck with getting and saving the 'Burb!

Re: Headliner delete?
my 72 Burb has some thin sort of sound deadening pad glued to the ceiling above the front seats too. definitely factory installed....and yes it would have been nice if they'd done it on the whole ceiling. i'm thinking of using some lizard skin ceramic heat/sound control spray on the interior ceiling (burbs have a lot of roof to soak up the sun) and then maybe put a layer of stick on Dynamat or whatever on top of that. then i'll worry about a headliner.

Good idea on the lizard skin thermal barrier. That much Dynamat would cost me more than I paid for the Suburban I'm thinking a thin flexible ABS plastic sign material covered in perforated vinyl to mimic the look of the original perforated headliner boards. Luckily the mice left enough of mine to use them as templates for proper fit.
