Tank and filler kit
Got a reproduction tank kit for my 68 swb c10. Box says its for a 69 to72 blazer. When I put it between the frame rails with the filler neck on drivers side, the neck looks like it will be right in line with the bed crossmember after the bed is installed. If I turn it around, the filler looks like it will be to far forward and come out under the pass side wheel well. The neck also will not quite clear the frame. What can I do?
Also, I would like to mount a gas cap in the bed floor, side of the stake hole, or behind a light. What is the bet combo for this? Pics pls!!! I know this has been discussed many times. I did a search and found lots of info, enough to really confuse me!!!! Please help..... Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Tank and filler kit
I think the bed crossbar needs to be cut. All the research i have done to prepair for the same tank shows that crossbar cut down to like 1/2"from the existing 2 1/2" bar. They did it on TRUCKS on powetrblock you may be able to see the episode online hope this helps.....if it doesnt work like that please let us know what you did to install it.
Thanks

Re: Tank and filler kit
I had to cut the crossmember. Mine isn't a pretty job, but I'll take a pic for you. Give me a couple of minutes, rough day at work and want to let the dogs rest a few first.

Re: Tank and filler kit
Here's mine. Wish I hadn't cut so much out of mine, but should give you an idea of what you need to do. Mine is a longbed stepside with wood floor, but bet it's the same idea for all of them. Also, before I swapped to the new rebuilt frame my vent line fit much better, but guess I was off when I drilled the holes in the new frame. Might want to watch out for that when you do yours!

Re: Tank and filler kit
Thanks Mal, that helps some. Is the filler neck on the driver or passenger side? Hard to tell for sure in the pic

Re: Tank and filler kit
I didn't have a kit for the fill neck. I ran mine inside the driver side stepside fender and installed a marine fill on the inside of the bed side. There's a lot of ways people have done them on here.
If I had been more sure of myself I probably would have done the sidemarker fill that someone did a write up of on here. Think it was called Tenneman's sidemarker fill. Something like that. If you have a fleetside some have done a gas fill on the brake or reverse light (can't remember which). Others get a fill door and fab it in. Really amazing what some of these guys come up with. Wish I had the skills to pull off a lot of the things they do. Jeff |

Re: Tank and filler kit
Sorry, was Tennman on the sidemarker install. Been a long time since I've read that post.
