New Guy Here

Hi all..
Names Jesse. I've been a part of the forum scene for a few years. About 2 weeks ago I acquired an 86 shortbed silverado. 350 and th350 tranny. First Chevy I've ever owned! I aint the type of guy to bag on Ford cuz they re still my favorite but I don't mind driving either figured I'd come give a hello!

Re: New Guy Here

Welcome to the forum man!! I'm not sure if you have, but post up some pictures of your whip so we can admire it!

We're all gear head junkies that love our trucks. There's a lot of knowledge here on the forum so enjoy, again welcome to our Squared Family full of Squared Freaks!

Do you have any plans for the truck or leave it as is?

Re: New Guy Here

Oh I will! Currently its my dd. The previous owner did some shotty..I mean SHOTTY wiring. Body is really straight no rot. The engine is feom a 95 tbi truck but was converted to carb. The truck as decoded by vin was ak original 305 with a 700r4 and now has the complete opposite (pulled the engine numbers). As for plans..just to fix it up and finiah what the p.o. started. She runs real smooth ajd likes to cruise. I'd like to get the wiring sorted..its mostly in the dash..replace some interior parts that are worn and finish getting around the door jambs painted. Looks like its already been lowered some

Re: New Guy Here

yeah from your profile pictures it looks to be lowered a tad, but I don't blame ya for wanting to get the wiring cleaned up, and looking nice!

It'll be a lot of work but it'll be well worth it trust me!

I'm about to have to dig into wiring myself not exactly looking forward to it, but it'll have to be done to look good!

Re: New Guy Here

Thank you for the welcomes! I will get some more pics up when the weather clears..been gettiglng pummelled with rain and storms. Ovr always enjoyed sharing and learning knowledge. On another Ford forum I've become good friends with many of the guys. I'm sure ill be around for a good long while Chevy is a whole new animal to me. My twin brother is all for Chevy and I've always been kinda particular on old fords..but i found this beauty and couldnt pass her up! They s
Shine up real nice and are great to cruise around in!
As for the wiring..I picked me up a Haynes manual and have been studying it. Wiring is my least favorite right behind sheet metal work. the p.o. also took a 95 columnout and out it in this 86. I'm thinking thats where he got his connections crossed. I have left blinkers turning on hazards..headlights turning on buzzers and dashlights are nary to be found. It'll be worth it in the end!
