Valve Cover Adapters

I have a 96-2000 crate motor I'll be dropping into my 72 Chevy c-10 and I can't stand those ugly center bolt style valve covers. Now can I possibly run these adapters as some have used before so that I can run my much easier on the eye perimeter bolt covers for the cleaner look and functionality?

I have a concern with them leaking alot as I drive my truck daily and don't prefer oil spots everywhere. Any advice to be given here from users of this kind of solution?? much appreciated thank you

To much money just to use the old style valve covers.

I have used these on a 72 truck with vortec heads, for the same reason. Never had any leakage problems.

Now that's one for the spacers and one against the spacers. Is it simply a matter of how you use the product on the motor? Turp was yours a daily driver? And clone what about yours?

Theres a much higher chance of leakage with those adapters. Double the gaskets = double the chance of leaks. Also they will interfere if your not using stock rocker arms. I would spend the money and a get a good looking set of centerbolt covers.(yes they do exist)

I understand the higher chance an ill be using a crate motor so the rocker arms should clear fine if stock is best. This won't be a high end motor just a stocker really so no dance rockers.

I just looked more carefully at the picture - four studs, four spacers, and seven nuts?

If you decide to go with it, let us all know how it works out. I use 3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive (black) on valve cover gaskets to avoid leaks. I've had a lot of success with it.

A good friend of mine bought a set of vortec heads, the adapters, and a set of the 1.6 aluminum roller rockers, from the GM performance parts booth at super chevy years ago. I installed everything, and it was his daily driver for many years. The vortec heads have a valve cover rail that is higher than the old style heads. It is also machined flat, and both sides of the adapters are flat. Unlike the old heads, you don't have oil pooling up on the cover to head seams. I sure wouldn't be afraid to use them. Here is a pic of them currently.

guessing they left a lock nut out that's not good.

I've also been running the thick cork gaskets as of this year and have seen my leaks almost completely disappear. Not sure I even have an adhesive on them or not. Now the only curious thing I have is should I go with speedway spacers or trick flow..

Very true point there with them not being as round as the edges of the old style heads. Now that cover is just sitting on it to show the height hmm? My perimeter style valve covers are low-ish and I shouldn't have clearance issues with my booster or vintage air a/c so I wouldn't mind the spacing up. Those look like a very clean install Turp

It would probably be best to run the more expensive steel ones as they're less prone to warping over time with heat. Living in CA you get those nice long summers and I will be driving daily most of the time.

This truck is currently being restored. Yes, the valve cover is just setting, and not bolted down. They are some tall finned aluminum ones from Speedway. When he used it as his daily driver, he ran the stock covers, with the oil fill tube.
