What's the bolt size for the transmission flywheel cover?
I have a 71 truck with a 350 engine and TH350 turbo transmission. When I purchased the truck it didn't have a cover over the flywheel. I recently purchased a cover. However, I need to know what size bolt I'll need to use to attach it to the transmission. Does anybody know what size bolt I'll need to use before I have to go and buy a bunch of various bolts I don't need?
Any help would be appreciated. |

Re: What's the bolt size for the transmission flywheel cover?
If you have a 1971 350 transmission, it should be a 1/4 x 20 The later 350 trans missions used a metric and some were a self tapping style screw.
Here is what you can try: Remove one of your valve cover bolts and try threading it in the hole on the trans, if it threads in, then you have a 1/4 x 20 bolt. The length should be around 1/2 to 3/4 inch. This might save you some unneeded inventory of bolts. |
