Trouble installing BB in truck
I'm having trouble installing my BB in my '69 truck
Using factory BB tower stands and using the correct engine side mounts. Just doesn't seem to fit. Like the engine is a 1/4 inch too wide. I can get one side to bolt up, but not the other. I can get close, just can't get both to line up. I've loosened the stands to see if there was any play, but will only adjust front - rear. Almost as if I shaved 1/8 off one mount it would settle in correctly. Any thoughts or ideas regarding this ? Common issue ? Thank you |

Re: Trouble installing BB in truck
I would guess that your frame is tweaked. Common with these 40+ year old trucks.

Re: Trouble installing BB in truck
Even without abuse, I would still suspect normal wear and tear, given the age and the fact that it is not that far off when you try and set the engine in place. Is it possible the mounts are tweaked slightly?

Can you take a shot of each side from the top?

Desperate times require desperate measures, but Pepto is for settling stomachs not engines.

Re: Trouble installing BB in truck
We used '74 stands and mounts when we put the '74 454 in my '69 frame and it settled in nicely.

Re: Trouble installing BB in truck
Had some issue shooting BB 305 V6 mounts. I loosened mounts for wiggle room. I moved engine lift chain to front of engine so I could rock/list engine back and forth. Shot it then snugged er down.
