Gremlins

I'm hoping you guy's can help me out with a turn signal issue. So everything was working at first, now all turn signals flash at the same time, it does not matter if the switch is left or right, both the dash lights and outside lights flash, and also now there is no hazard lights. The wiring is all new, so could be just the switch, hazard flasher, bad ground?

Thanks guys!

Stock wiring or all new harness? Do you have a schematic? Automotive electrical problems are fairly simple to diagnose with a wiring diagram and a complete list of symptoms and conditions. Give us all the information you have, and I bet somebody will be able to help narrow it down.

Its a new reproduction harness, yeah i have a schematic to refer too. the weird thing is everything was working like it should until a day ago. The symptoms are, when left or right turn signals are turned on everything flashes outside and on the dash, also the hazard do not flash now. I don't know, electrical drives me nuts.

Check the ground wires engine, body and frame outside, under dash inside...good luck.

If it worked properly, and now doesn't, then something changed. Maybe the ts switch went south. All distribution of brake, turn and hazard power takes place in the switch; it's about the only place where power can jump to wires it's not supposed to be on. I have a pin-out somewhere of the switch, will go and look for it.

Re: Gremlins

I'm assuming they kept the colors the same:

Purple in, is power from the turn signal flasher relay
Black/White in, is power from the stop lamp switch
Brown in, is power from the hazard flasher relay
All grounds are made after the lamp elements
Turn indicators in dash are powered off the front turn lamps

Left turn:
Purple in to switch goes to Black/yellow out (left brake/turn lamp)
Purple in to switch goes to Black/Blue out (left front turn lamp)
Black/White in to switch goes to Green out (right brake/turn lamp)

Right turn:
Purple in to switch goes to Green out (right brake/turn lamp)
Purple in to switch goes to Blue out (right front turn lamp)
Black/White in to switch goes to Black Yellow out (left brake/turn lamp)

No turn:
Black/White in to switch goes to Black/Yellow out (left brake/turn lamp)
Black/White in to switch goes to Green out (right brake/turn lamp)

Re: Gremlins

Have you replaced any bulbs lately? Or done anything else that may have been near the bulbs or wiring? What about the parking lights? do they come on as well? or do the turn signals come one when you turn on the park lamps or headlamps? I've seen bulbs cause weird problems like this. You might want to start removing bulbs one at a time and see if anything changes.

I vote this as well. Maybe you had a loose one that finally lost its connection.

I've found that 90% of my electrical woes have been due to ground issues. Vehicle electronics do some silly things when they are incomplete...

Thats exactly what happened, wrong bulbs in the front parking lights, i started unplugging things and found that. Are the front fender marker light supposed to flash with the blinkers? I don't remember them doing that before.

I re-did a couple grounds as well....It helped.
