Checkerplate
Has anyone used checkerplate on bed floor? I,m thinking of putting a sheet down on mine but am weighing pros and cons

used to see the heavy steel ones in the old days, usually just tossed over the bad wood and spot welded to the bed sides and caulked. I had one in a 39 pickup I once had. The newer aluminum stuff would require a backer board.

And I gurantee anything you carried in there would have to be secured down some way cause it would be very slippery in there.Especially the beer cooler

I have used polished aluminum diamond plate in 3 trucks, and it works very well. It seems to be more durable than wood, and it looks cool.

 I installed 1/16 polished aluminum diamond plate on top of 5/8 plywood. Painted the plywood, and used polished stainless steel carage bolts to mount to the bed angle strips and to the frame. Most things I cary in the bed sit on top of the diamonds, and the aluminum doesn't scratch near as easy as the finished wood, I have used wood before. |

Looks awesome.Its the same colour as my truck.I cant see however how many bolts or where they are.I was just going to go over existing wood floor

 [/IMG]This is another one I did. There are 8 bolts to the frame. They are 3/8 stainless carage bolts with the heads polished. You don't notice them unless you look for them.

looks great but remember that it needs to be polished from time to time or it will corrode. wax helps but still will need polishing. In my years as a truck driver I learned a lot about polishing aluminum.

Did you just screw it to the wood or bolt it through? Theres a product called Sharks Hide that is suppose to keep it looking new
