Is this a good deal???
I want some opinions from guys who have had these engines/trucks. I would buy this for the drivetrain and electronics. I've driven the truck and the knock is the typical lifter noise. Drives great and smooth! So, is it a good deal? He said he would take $3,500. One word answers are good, no stories please.

Kelly Blue Book says about $7000-$8000. If you're going to strip it for parts maybe not since the engine is close to needing a rebuild.

First thing I would do is check to see what a salvage engine would cost (same-same) & decide if I can make some $ and how much.
Take the $ and buy the drivetrain parts your wanting (salvage parts of course) |

Do a compression test,if its good, rebuild heads, probably bad lifter or lifters, that's a nice newer truck! say hello to Tustin for me! used to work there for 5 years.

Re: Is this a good deal???
Great deal. With those miles its not close to needing a rebuild. I have a 8.1 in my 2500. It has 306,000 on it right now. Runs great. My buddy has the same truck with 302,000mi. We got are trucks around the same time with around the same miles. Roughly 120k. We decided to see who could get more miles on their truck before it needed more work then it was worth. It has turned out to be a very loooong game.

Re: Is this a good deal???
My thoughts are if you are buying for the drivetrain then it is too much. Atleast around here you can buy the complete drivetrain, wiring, computer, fuse boxes, everything for half of that. Even an LS1 or LS2 engines complete can be had for $3500 in these parts. Not sure what prices are like where you live though. Surely they can't be that high just for a drivetrain.
Just seen where he said he would take $3500. Still think it would be too much verse buying a drivetrain already pulled. $3500 for the truck and I would just drive it. It's only worth what you are willing to pay though.
