1/2t with 6200 GVW?

My '76 (Spirit of '76) has a GVW of 6200....does this make it like a Heavy Half? And what is the difference between a regular 1/2t? Thanks

I believe F44 is the RPO for heavy duty suspension.

Re: 1/2t with 6200 GVW?

My Heavy Half rides nice and smooth too. In fact, I prefer driving the pickup sometimes cause its actually fairly plush compared to my 65 Nova or my wifes 2008 Honda Odyssey. Lots of farm roads on the way to work and it seems to float over em.

Re: 1/2t with 6200 GVW?

This may be worth nothing or might help you and me figure some things out LOL. I stripped a long gone spirit a couple years ago. I pulled.the radiator top plate because I knew I needed one in mu 86-73 swap. Point of interest. The top plate is too big for my 86 radiator. To tall too deep. So I pulled one from a 78 single wheel heavy 3/4 I had it was same I assumed all older squares used that style. Buy I looked at my bros 76 2wd swb it was different much smaller rad. And top plate was drastically different. My point being the 78 was heavy duty. My bros76 not maybe the spirit trucks came heavy duty cooling as part of the package. This spirit was 1/2t 2wd long box

I wouldn't doubt it, most of GM's towing options for various models included HD cooling as part of the package.
