Re: how to hook up gas-tank lines

if your going to hard line get inverted flare brass connectors, and convert over to compressionon the other end. or you can use a double flare tool and put break line style fittings and just go invert to invert

Re: how to hook up gas-tank lines

Cut them off, and flare on regular inverted flare brake line fittings. You can then run hard line 90% of the way up. On the engine side, it depends if you'll be using braided line or just using the budget fi rubber line.

Re: how to hook up gas-tank lines

Wait....your running a vetter regulator? Are you running the car intake then?
Your sig says a 4.8, which would be return style and not need the vette reg (unless its newer than 05?)

Double flare never hurts but I've run single flare on fuel systems before without any problem. Its under 100psi so its not like the braking systems at 2k+

Re: how to hook up gas-tank lines

Hi david, i went to the junkyard and got the quick connect fittings at the intake area, cut the rubber line as far back as possible, used edelmann brass fitings that have a nice bulbous end on it, fuel injection specific clamps, bent my own lines with inverted flare like brake lines are, i used my mastercool hydralic flaring tool to make o'ring fittings for a gm fuel filter, and someone makes (maybe inline tube) an adapter to go from male oring to male oring at your sender area. Gm made that fitting on an 88 long box 4 door truck to extend their lines so i had that for a long time. I steered away from AN fittings after a couple friends have had repeated leak issues. When they saw my truck they asked me what i did for lines and said i made it like gm did, after hearing their horror stories (almost a fire) etc. I feel that a room full of gm engineers working together to produce lines that don,t leak, have to stand up to crash tests, overpressure bursting tests, emissions compliance, etc was good enough for me. I don't need fancy anodized fittings that are expensive and take special aluminum wrenches so i don't hurt them, etc. I worked as a dealer mechanic for 30 plus years and other than corrosion from road salt finally getting to them i never saw a leak. My 2 friends can't say the same. Oh david, you don't have a relative by the nickname of skip fuller do you? maybe 80ish years old? Let me know and good luck, Brian Fuller
