64' Stepside "Jaybird"
Hello guys got a small update on the truck. I started a new thread and renamed it. Jaybird is what my Father in law nicknamed my wife Jennifer.
Here is my original thread:http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=544074 Anyways scored an original seat out of a parts truck here in the Austin area and one of the guys my Father in law worked with had his neighbor reupholster it and add new foam. It looks beautiful and I can't wait to put it in the truck. Bret

Re: 64' Stepside "Jaybird"
Been making some progress on the truck. Got new shocks on all 4 corners and in the process of rebuilding the front brakes. Few more small things and I will be heading to the inspection station to make it legal.
The goodies The old shocks were just done. Driver side done except for the hose. I lost the brass washer somehow. The passenger side drum was still riveted on. I beat the crap out of it getting it off so I had to buy a new drum for the passenger side. They tried to turn it and it was done. I tried something different with one of the wheels painted the center with some metallic gray wheel paint. What do you guys think? Not sure if I like it. Just trying to do something different with these wheels until I can get the ones I want. I was surprised though I measured the width and they are 9 inches wide. Here is what I have left to do: Get the gas gauge working Rewire the horn and put original horns back on. A new heater core. Although shouldn't need it til November around here New lock set New windshield and rear window gasket 1 new tire. Bret

It's looking good! Not sure about the 2 tone wheels, but that's just me. Keep making that progress!

Welcome and a great looking ride. Always good to see more short steppers around here. Glad to see your not wasting any time on the upkeep. Keep us posted on this.
I think the metallic grey would look good if the whole rim was painted....just my opinion.

Re: 64' Stepside "Jaybird"
Thanks guys for the encouragement. It has been slow but I feel like the finish line is so close now. Can't wait to be driving this thing to work everyday. I will have the oldest vehicle in the parking lot. Not a lot of people these days are proud of that.
63-C10 I was thinking the same on the whole wheel painted metallic gray. May give that a shot. I have 4 used tires on it that are all mismatched brands but they all have white letters and one has a thin white wall. I was planning on making my own white walls until I can afford to get the BFGoodrich Wide Whitewalls I want. I may also try the wheels painted gloss black. I just realized I never posted picks of the new seat in place. It makes the rest of the interior look really bad. But it is very comfortable. Bret
