Installing a power steering gearbox on a 67
I am trying to find someone to help me properly get clearance between my frame and new gear box.
I know I will have to trim the core support bracket which will be no problem but To dimple the frame.... That's more than I am capable of doing. I would rather not have to heat my frame and hammer out a spot. Is there another way besides using washers/shims? I live in SC Any help will be greatly appreciated Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Installing a power steering gearbox on a 67
Some people cut out the section and weld in a half section of pipe. I cut two relief slits and heated and pressed the offending area in then welded up the relief slits. Others have made .25" spacers (fancy washers)

Re: Installing a power steering gearbox on a 67
On a '68 C series frame, you shouldn't need any spacers at all, as '68 was the firest year that integral power steering was available on the C series trucks. Perhaps your frame is an early '68 or a '67 frame. In that case all you need are four 1/4" spacers, which I do also sell for $4.00 each plus shipping. You really don't need thos adapter plate for your frame unless you have a K series truck. Then this adapter plate will work for you.
