tailgate latches???
hey guys. Im probably going to pick up a tail gate today and Im curious if ill be able to install it before I drive 4 hrs back. But i think im missing something. I know I have the lower pieces to slide the tail gate into, but i dont know what else im suppose to have . Isn't there suppose to be a locking latch mechanism. anybody have pics of what you need thanks

Along with some 3/8 fine thread bolts and a 9/16 wrench or socket/ratchet.
You will have to remove one of the two trunions (on the bottom) to get the gate in place. Hope this helps. |

Here is another photo that shows the hardware in the tail gate also. It works somewhat like the door on a house. If anyone has a photo of the gate open on a truck to show how it latches, that would be good. I cannot find one at this time.
If your new gate has hardware, you are good, if not, it is easy to get your hands on. |

It appears that you are missing the latch thingy that should be bolted to the bed sides to keep the tailgate up.

They're in post #3 and #5 bolt to the side of the bed on both sides and have a pivoting strap that attaches to the tailgate
