A couple more questions if you dont mind.

The drop mmber on this panel , has this had the track narrowed 2 inches , and Im assuming its on 20's but you dont roughly know the overall diameter of the wheel and tiire combo?

I was also wondering about any firewall to tire , clearance problems.?

im not a huge fan of panels but that is one way cool ride....very interested in hearing more on the c4 dropmember and the c4 irs deal.

The tire is a 255 35R20 which is 27" tall. The rim is a 20x8.5 with an 18mm offset... that's a 5" backspacing for us American guys! The track width is narrowed... that was one of the final proto-typed Dropmembers and it is narrowed nearly 2" on each side. NO issues with fire wall clearances. We are going to be doing another install on his other truck... 65 SWB it will be running the same tire/wheel combo. I will post up pics as it comes together.

No, it needs to be MII dimensions. They can be had pretty reasonably nowadays... $200 give or take for a quality manual rack, and $250 or so for a quality power unit.

I do plan on selling a kit for the hood hinges. I need to build some for Dino's 66 SWB. When I build them for his truck I will be modifying the original design sightly and will build a few sets to sell. Once I get them built I can put a price tag on it.

I'm guessing that was a typo..... did you mean 118mm? That would work out to about 4.65" of backspacing.

5 inches exactly would be 127mm.

The offset is measured differently than backspacing. I am not exactly sure how it is measured, but I know it is different than backspacing. I verified with my wheel broker so I wouldn't post erroneous information... So, an 18mm offset on a 8.5" wheel would leave a 5" backspacing. I hope that makes more senes.

I gotcha..... I'll bet wheel offset is a measurement of distance from the wheels true "centerline". Numerically that would make sense:

8.5" wheel = 4.25" centerline
Offset of 18mm = .708"

4.25" + .708" offset = 4.958" backspacing.


Seems plausible....

Looks like you figured it out before me! I was just getting ready to post up the math. One thing I recognized is that a 8.5" wheel is truly 9.5" wide... therefore has a center-line of 4.75". That would make it closer to a 5.5" backspacing. It does look like I may have posted 'erroneous' info!

I do know that they have an 18mm offset!!!!

That is a cool panel. The first truck I bought was a 63 panel (no motor, no trans, no interior) I wanted to slam it to the ground but I was only 15 yrs old and didnt have the patience. I never did get it on the road. It's nice to finally see a 63 panel fixed up (almost 20 yrs later). Good job!
