The converter. Makes it twice as bad with tall gears. 3:42 or taller makes it seem twice as bad

Re: rebuilt th400 and 3000k stall isuess
.what do you think they mean when they say stall? It's called a dynaflow effect
Your converter is flashing higher to put you closer to where the engine makes power when you have a big cam. If your close to stock it's nearly useless. When your stopped and you stomp on it the converter allows the engine to rev higher before it catches making you launch harder esp if your big cam has no low end power and needs more rpm to make power If your close to stock go with a 2000 stall In the meantime the extra slip creates heat so make sure you have a trans cooler Posted via Mobile Device

Re: rebuilt th400 and 3000k stall isuess
Get the rebuilder to look at it get there opinion.
I had a 2500ish verter worked good. Went for more 3500 street fighter by TCI flashes almost 4k hate it for daily driving but 1.67 60' time makes up for it. If you intend on drag racing. Get used to it. Or change it. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: rebuilt th400 and 3000k stall isuess
I have a 3500 B&M converter with a 400 Turbo with 3:73 gears , 29.5 tall tire in my HotRod.
It works fine for a radical cam small block like mine, but IMO you need to go lower on your gears (4:10) or less stall speed on the converter. Desert |
