Stepside fender support brackets
I am looking at replacement fender support braces. I see them listed on a couple sites but they are different than what I see on my 66 stepside truck. I have a brace that connects the fender to the frame. Where it attaches to the frame it is threaded and goes through the frame with a nut on each side. The ones they sell look to have eyelets instead of threads. Maybe mine are not original or correct. Anyone know which is correct?

Re: Stepside fender support brackets
The threaded ones are original and use bolts to mount. The repops use nuts and bolts and the ones I have seen do not have the threaded ends.

Re: Stepside fender support brackets
The replacements look like these, but there are 6 total for stepsides. Fleetsides have 4.

Re: Stepside fender support brackets
yeah exactly, thats what the replacement looks like but thats not the same as the ones on my truck. Well atleast thats not the same as one on each side that has a threaded end not an eyelet.

Re: Stepside fender support brackets
Are you looking for a set or just one of the long or short ones?

Re: Stepside fender support brackets
I actually would like to get the threaded supports but would buy the set if it included the ones I need.

The above link is for a threaded brace for the 55-59 chevy truck. Not sure if they are interchangable. I'm in the same boat in needing to replace one that is broken. Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Stepside fender support brackets
that definetly looks like it but I would have to assume they would list it as for 60-66 if it worked. Kinda weird how no one seems to have this part.

Re: Stepside fender support brackets
The rear fenders on the 2 nd series 55 -66 were the same, so I would think the rods would fit with no issue. Come to think of it, my fender mount spare came off a late 50's stepside and the rods came with it and were used when I did the conversion.

Re: Fleetside! Stepside fender support brackets
Bump. I was searching for info on rear fender supports for my SWB Fleetside and found this thread. Any further info on how the after market ones fit? Are they hollow tubes? Any one out there try to make their own out of some 1/4 inch rod stock? Or have other info on them cheaper than $80 bucks? Thanks

Re: Stepside fender support brackets
They should all be solid steel.
