Built these for a friend. He's not using the vent so I just cut them straight across the top. The ones I build for myself will have the indentation for the vent.

I didn't have to be too picky with these as he isn't using the e- brake by the kick panel. But I'd estimate 4-5 inches..

I'm thinking that when I do mine that I will try to use the existing holes from the vent pull on top and maybe a screw or two through the back side of the panel into the metal portion of the kickpanel.

Also, you could use industrial velcro (the really heavy duty stuff) or maybe silicon adhevise.

i fasten mine with screws inside the speaker openings
i tried to use velcro for my battery cover behind my seat, it moved and rattled.
i did use a lot of the industrial strength 3m double side foam tape to stick things to painted surfaces

I was going to make them during the last three month that we didn't have overtime at work, but now overtime is back. So I don't really have time to make extra sets now.

wrapping my kicks in vinyl was the easiest fiberglass project to date. fiberglass, smuck on some filler and sand with 80 grit. no block sanding, no fill-sand-fill-sand. i have an old spray gun set up with contact cement, spray on, wait and lay on. easy peasy.

I hate heating and stretching vinyl.. Much rather sand.. Just preference though.

Very nice work on the kick panels. I have been meaning to make some for the past year but have not yet gotten around to doing it. Still trying to figure out some other wiring stuff with the truck before making them.

Anyone here make an extra set for 6.5" components on a '72 GMC? I'd be interested.
