Porterbuilt tubular a arms

How does the dropmember version vary from stock crossmember version of tubular A arms? I thought they were the same until I looked at the item description for the Porterbuilt A arms on the Porterbuilt site and it mentions they can be built for a dropmember or stock crossmember. The reason I ask is because I picked up a pair with a stage 1 kit from a guy off Arizona craigslist and I never asked which setup they are for. http://www.porterbuiltfabrication.com/?p=119

Thanks,
Scott

Re: Porterbuilt tubular a arms

Porterbuilt makes a few different types of a-arms. Narrowed, Forward, Both and Regular. The regular arms can be used with a dropmember or factory crossmember, the difference is that the dropmember centers the wheel where as the factory crossmember does not. The forward a-arms can be used with a factory dropmember and it will center the wheels in the wheel well, but if you were to use those same a-arms on a dropmember, then the wheel, if it fit in the wheel well, would not be center. It would be forward of the center line by about an inch.

Re: Porterbuilt tubular a arms

Thank you, I believe these are just the standard A arms. I'm going to be running the CPP 2 1/2 inch modular drop spindles that move the track width in. I will call Nate or Dave tomorrow and see if they can pull up this guys order and see which style was ordered. I text the seller and his wife said that she thought they will work with both crossmembers.

Standard PB a-arms, work on both.
"Forward Series" a-arms only work with a stock crossmember.

Re: Porterbuilt tubular a arms

Thank you Keith. I have another question. Does the factory cross shaft work with the lower control arms? I only have the two upper cross shafts.

I don't think so.
Since the development of the Dropmember V3 and later versions,... the lower a-arms designed for the Dropmember,... come with no cross shafts.
(since it's incorporated into the Dropmember)

Give Dave or Nate a call.
They will have what you need.

Good info, is it because of the cross shaft info you posted previously?
