Emergency Brake

Rico. I think you might have missed the point here. Or I may be mistaken but I believe the problem does not revolve around mounting the hand brake handle. The problem is that the brake assembly attaches at the rear of the transmission.
Once the trans is switched to an automatic there is no emergency brake to activate.
Now the easiest way to cure that would be with a Micro Lock switch. Basically you plumb it into the brake system like you would a "line lock" setup. This time it has a manually operated lever that is a two position setup.
Stepping on the brake pedal and holding the pedal down firmly you put the lever into the lock or on position. That through the hydraulics in the brake system holds pressure on the brakes until you release the lever or put it in the "off" or "unlock" position.
If you have a scrap yard around you area they will be able to supply one from a 5 ton truck without air brakes. Good luck!
