Bed bolt locations?
Just wanted to check in before I get a bunch of bolts in the wrong place. I'm finishing putting the wood in my bed, and I want to check with everyone to make sure I put the right hardware in the correct location.
This is for a 65 LWB fleetside. Here's what I got: Here's what I think, please correct me if I need it. - large bolts through the side bed flanges, and through the wheelhouse flanges that are parallel to the bed sides. These bolts go through the wood, and are backed by a medium washer, lock washer, and nut. - small bolts go through the strips. Some go through crossmembers. All are backed by large washer, lock washer, and nut. Thanks for your thoughts! Jason. |

Re: Bed bolt locations?
Sounds right. The large washers will go under the bed strips and helps hold pressure under the wood. Small washers for metal - metal contact.

Re: Bed bolt locations?
Thanks. Should I add large washers to the perimeter flange bolts that go through holes in the wood (but don't go through a crossmember)?

Re: Bed bolt locations?
I did personally, but I don't think they are needed. Its mainly due to the large gap in between the boards. I figured that the large washer was less likely to counter sink into the boards than the small ones.

Re: Bed bolt locations?
I'll see if I have any large washers left after putting them between the boards.

Re: Bed bolt locations?
Someone posted on here a couple days ago about getting a new truck and they put a pic up of a bed off the truck standing on end with the wood still in it. The large washers were on the bolts between the wood. I'll try to find the post so you can see the pic. I'm getting my wood this week and had the same question.
