Re: Vin ?

Yeah, that's the deal. Anyone looking to buy or sell a Cheyenne Super,or any other truck, with the value based on what it came from the factory as needs one or more of the verifications I listed above or it's just talk. Back in 1990 I was at Carlisle and was floored by this pair of Cheyenne Supers a guy was selling. One was white and the other was black. They were the first trucks I saw selling at $10k. I thought they were well worth it. Then,I was buying a bunch of stuff from Cheyenne Super Man and one thing was a chrome glovebox door w/Super applique. I told him I was hesitant because my truck was a clean, low mile, well optioned, and fairly rare example and I'd lose the SPID if I installed the chrome door. Then he grabbed a blank SPID from under the table and went about telling what type to use and all to make a perfect replica. Well, for my truck it was to transfer what I actually had from the factory to a cooler glovebox door, but it came to me that those two $10,000 trucks could have started life as base models, went to the junkyard all used up,then restored and cloned into Cheyenne Supers. Back then I didn't even consider restored truck to have anywhere near the value of an original unrestored beauty. That's about when I realized I should stick to only buying not so shiny unrestored survivors, not that I had ever bought anyone else's shiny restoration before that before that
