Early 78-83 Intermittant wiper switch and relay
I originally picked this up hoping to find a way to make this work in my 77. I was actually lucky enough to find the UBER rare 77 only intermittant set up so I no longer need this. This is untested but came of a clean truck so there is no reason it shouldn't work. It includes the harness to the relay or whatever it is called. Price is $50 shipped within the USA.

Any chance you figured out how to wire this up in the 73-77 trucks ?

I never got that far. I do have a nice long length of the pig tail included if you want to give it a shot.

The wiper motor is different in the 73-77 trucks.

Re: Early 78-83 Intermittant wiper switch and relay
It looks almost identical except it has textured black instead of clear lexan

Re: Early 78-83 Intermittant wiper switch and relay
Do you know if this switch can replace a bad switch in a non-intermittent '79?

Re: Early 78-83 Intermittant wiper switch and relay
Hey 1774,
I'm interested in the relay but I'm waiting on you to send me some pics of some headlight bezels (I sent you a PM) so maybe we can work out a package deal. Please send some pics of the bezels. Thanks! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Early 78-83 Intermittant wiper switch and relay
I got on my -77 an wiper motor from an -85 there I had to cut of the connection ball and weld it on the -85 wiper arm. I also got a wiper switch and the electronic box of an early -82-85 something and wired it all together. I can take pictures of the actual wires if you want to.

Re: Early 78-83 Intermittant wiper switch and relay
Yes that is correct I had to weld that little ball from the 77 assembly on to the 85 wiper motor arm. They where different sizes, and it was easy to do that. I just hand filed the ball's weld off from the back of the 77 wiper motor arm.
I can take pictures of the wiring in a couple of days. Sorry about my last post I was tired and I had to think how I did it+ english is my second language. |

Re: Early 78-83 Intermittant wiper switch and relay
I got under the dash board tonight and realised years past and this is a good way to document how I did it.
Firewall -77........................................-85'ish wiper motor Dark blue------------------------------------Light blue Yellow/black---------------------------------White Tan (white?)/black--------------------------Purple Light blue------------------------------------Grey (two cables) Now to the cables under the dash -77 wires............................................wiper switch WITH the control box and cables! +power run to separate windshi. pump and back to------------------pink Black------------------------------------------Black Here I have also a cable run to an little switch on the signal -------------------Signal thingy Black/white-----------------------------------Purple Light blue-------------------------------------Grey From here also the second cable goes to the signal---------------------Signal thingy Dark blue-------------------------------------Black/Blue Grey from bulb from the older wiper switch--------------------------Second Grey And also you have to cut a little in the metal where the newer switch will go in. With my switch on the signal I can just touch it lightly and the wipers will go ones even if the switch is not on, perfect if you get water from oncoming traffic after rain or at start up in the morning. |

Re: Early 78-83 Intermittant wiper switch and relay
I was finally able to do some checking and I do still have a pigtail harness with about 8" or so of wire. I didn't see a part number on it.
