anyone have that ebay auction #? what are the details on the truck? i know it has 20"b codd. up front and 22" out back. That was probably one of the sweetest trucks ever made..

Ouch... poor guy probobly couldn't keep looking at it to try to build another one.
When I first came up here some lady on a cell phone almost got in a head on with me in my scout. She was in this little car. I was on this decent sized highway (3 lane crossing on each side with turning lanes) and the light had been green for a while. I'm coming up on the light and as I get close to the intersection I see this little car coming into the turn lane, I see the front end lift up as it accelerates towards the intersection trying to make it before the wave of traffic I was in (traffic in the two lanes to my right, also oncoming traffic in all the opposing lanes). Seeing the front end come up I know that car isn't going to make it so I let off a little, knowing that regardless she'd probobly get hit by the last lane or two, where there were cars a few car lengths ahead of me, as well as beside me. She starts to turn, then realizes she isn't going to make it and turns back straight... right into my lane as I'm entering the intersection. If I'd stayed like that I would have litterally ridden right up on top of that little car before I hit enough metal and had it moving fast enough to stop from going any higher. I hit the brakes and swerved over to the right, about two inches or so from the car next to me on that side. I missed her mirror by about an inch (my mirror was above the roof of her car). If I'd had just an inch or two less room, my driver's side front would have ridden right up on that car and sent me doing some barrel roles....may or may not have left that lady alive afterwards, but the head on wasn't any better for her anyway. Hopefully the roll bar would have saved me... If that car next to me had been hugging the left side of its lane like almost *every* driver seems to do around here, there would have been no where to go... that image still bothers me, even in a 5000 lb truck, with only lap belts and no airbags, even with a vehicle designed when the thought was still "let the other guy be the crumple zone" it still would have hurt a lot... sorry, slightly o/t but it brought that back to mind and I really needed to rant. Still see plenty of stupid driver's around here and have come up on some nasty wrecks too, but that was my worst close call... you know a wreck is bad when you see the medics and fire fighters wandering around aimlessly and you can't tell if they've extracted the passengers of one of the cars yet... Ok, slightly more on topic content: I spun out the '70 c/10 before on a really wet divided highway avoiding a deer, had a heavy load in the back and that was the only way to avoid the thing was two quick fish tails, the second of which would only have been recoverable by going into the ditch so I took it around to keep on the road (empty road, no other traffic). Was a fun ride, but not something I'd like to do again if I don't have to. |

I heard this truck was wrecked at the drag strip for some sort of photo shoot for a magazine. But don't have any evidence to back it up.

Sorry to see pics like that, looks like a sweet truck. Did you have the truck insured for an appraised value or was it a total loss?
